The interior as Dickens expresses it, is “that profound and secret mystery” of a person that is formed by life experiences, the events of history, the prevailing culture and individual genetic inheritances. My work aims to explore this concept through ceramics.

The Vessel House series features a gilded porcelain figure glimpsed through openings and doorways, whilst in the Inheritance pieces the ordered holes suggest an interior genetic make-up which can only be glimpsed through the rows of small apertures.

In all pieces the interior challenges our comprehension and so that profound and secret mystery continues.
