Stories in landscape
Walking through landscape imprints sensory memories, layered and melded over time. We recall individual and collective experiences, thoughts and feelings associated with place. My work has broadened from a personal history to gathering stories of other lands.
I write these stories with clay. Our earliest records were inscribed clay tablets, and I enjoy the continuity of using clay as a medium for script.
I love the shapes and shadows created by 3 dimensional slip-trailed text. Shadows move with the light, echoing our hazy, shifting memories.
Recently I have employed porcelain to create a finer script.
