Richard St John Heeley
Richard is known for making individual drinking vessels decorated with brushwork. Thrown on a momentum wheel, his work is influenced by Korean and Chinese pottery. His reputation is for blue and white porcelain; his recent work is wood fired shino glazed porcelain.
He strives for a holistic approach to working and living, and together with his wife Lucy owns and manages Hempmill Pottery & Cookery School on the border between Shropshire and Staffordshire. Richard makes all his own tools and brushes and uses his own wood to fire. He sources clay and materials from the Hempmill wetlands for his work.
