I like the randomness of Raku, the impressions of organic structures, and the thick layers of glaze with fine light refractive lines, so that the skin of the glaze appearing as green amethyst or opaque topaz generates a sense of depth.
To achieve the spatial impression of a long distance effect I apply additional dashes and small colour fields. The tradition of Raku also knows ‘Kintsugi’ – the ‘Golden Joinery’. Raku firing includes risks, which I perceive as experiences of my ceramic works in their creation process. Compared to humans, I think hurting experiences make people more valuable.
