My porcelain pots are inspired by a love of making and drawing and the constant fascination I have in transforming a solid lump of clay into a voluminous fine walled structure.
I explore the transformation of materials, delighting in the softness of clay and the way in which the character of each piece is defined by the melding of surface and form at high temperatures.
Observations of landscape: wide open spaces where land and sea meet, huge skies that move swiftly above us, elemental, skeletal structures, all contribute to the abstract visual vocabulary on which my ceramic vessels depend.
