My aim is to create timeless vessels for contemporary interiors. Each shape is individually made on the wheel. Porcelain gives me the perfect white bright background for my glaze recipes. I then apply spontaneous pencil strokes onto the once fired piece, patterns that create direction.
Pattern and mark-making are strong themes in my work. Matt dark surfaces interrupted by wax-resist lines in contrast to glossy coloured glazes. Inspiration comes from little snippets of observation in my environment. Lines jump out almost anywhere: stripes on cloth, wires and cables, plants and grasses, architecture and streets, just to name a few.
