The initial attraction to coloured clay began with recognising the potential within the technique to control line, colour and design in a unified manner. Patterns are built within the structure of the pots through a process of layering, blending and lamination; this is different to any other ceramic technique. Making ceramics is not a rational occupation, it is an emotional thing. You have to love the clay and engage wholeheartedly in order to gain a positive result. Failure to do this will result in shocks and broken pots.
